What effects do acid rain have on the environment and man-made structures?
Acid rain acidifies lakes, making them less habitable by fish that are used to a more neutral pH. In the late 1800’s it was popular for every Western city to have an Egyptian obelisk shipped and erected, and many of these have lost a great deal of detail in a hundred years even after being perfectly preserved in the Egyptian climate for millenniae. Limestone and marble on buildings are subject to this damage.
