WHen oxygen is inhaled there is a gas exchange in the lungs and when you exhale the results is the expulsion of co2. Exercise cause the heart rate to quicken and the breathing to quicken thereby speeding up the exchange of oxygen in the lungs. That increases the amount of carbon dioxide output.
