CAROL LIN, CNN ANCHOR: Al Gore, of course, is hoping the nation’s highest court will decide to allow the Florida recounts to count. For the latest, let’s go to CNN’s Patti Davis, who is covering the Gore campaign in Washington. Hi, Patti. PATTI DAVIS, CNN CORRESPONDENT: Hi, Carol. That is likely the only way that Vice President Al Gore can win this election. Of course, he’s still lagging behind Texas Governor George W. Bush and there’s just a day and a half left in those hand recountings going forward in those two Florida counties. Now Bush is challenging those recounts, the whole notion of them, in U.S. Supreme Court. He is making that argument, those arguments coming up on Friday. Gore legal advisers will argue that the Florida Supreme Court’s decision to allow those hand recounts to go forward should stand. (BEGIN VIDEO CLIP) KENDALL COFFEY, GORE CAMPAIGN ATT
