What effect will amending the current commodities restriction have on the Funds (other than the Mutual Series Funds)?
A few Funds have a fundamental investment restriction that prohibits them from investing in commodities or commodity contracts, including in some instances, financial futures contracts (and options thereon). However, for many of the Funds, the current fundamental investment restriction regarding commodities provides that the Funds may not purchase or sell commodity contracts, except futures contracts with respect to securities, currencies and indices and related options. The proposed fundamental investment restriction relating to commodities clarifies the ability of the Funds to engage in currency and financial futures contracts and related options and to invest in securities or other instruments that are secured by physical commodities. Notwithstanding the flexibility provided by the proposed fundamental investment restriction, each Fund is subject to limitations established from time to time by the Board regarding the use of derivatives.
