What effect does the Iraq War have on our economy?
Any war makes a very small, select group of people a LOT of money, but leaves the rest of us with the cost. Companies like Halliburton overcharge the US government for hammers, etc. or sell them Meals Ready to Eat that are old and moldy or sell them things they’ll never even neeed or use while at war. War such as the Bush/ Republican war in Iraq has increased our National Debt which DOES have a serious impact on our economy. The greater debt a country is in, the more the value of their currency declines as we’re now seeing the value of our dollar decline. A large National debt means that other social programs may face cuts in their budget or be eliminated all together. After school and preschool programs will be cut, school budgets, etc. which will produce a less educated work force. A large, burdensome National Debt also means that investors are more likely to sink their money into government bonds, etc., rather than invest in other markets which inhibits the ability for those compani
