What educational requirements are different between SET and BST?
Those selected into any one of the nine specialty programs will be able to complete the training program and progress to Fellowship following a clearly defined pathway in their discipline, provided they meet the educational requirements. The entire SET training program occurs under the guidance and direction of the surgical specialty into which candidates have been selected. Trainees clinical placements or rotations and assessments will be directly aligned with their career goals. Supervisors will carry out rigorous, early and comprehensive work-place assessment of competence. The emphasis in SET is on competency-based training and assessment.
