What education is required of CPAs?
A. Every CPA entering the profession today has a college degree with a concentration in accounting. A graduate degree is increasingly common. The current law in Texas requires students to complete 150 hours or five years of college. CPAs are required to participate in various continuing professional education (CPE) programs to keep pace with the profession’s expanding body of knowledge. Most states require such participation in one form or another.
