What eats a lion?
Lions are at the top of the food chain and have no natural predators – there are no animals that hunt them for food. Humans kill them for so-called sport, and out of fear that they will kill livestock (or people), and spotted hyenas will kill them to reduce the competition for prey. Scavengers such as vultures and jackals will eat a lion once it has died, as will carnivorous insects and the bacteria which break down the dead tissues.
