What early artificial intelligence computer program predates the term artificial intelligence?

I can’t think of one. The term was coined by John McCarthy at MIT in 1956. And as late as 10 years later most programs were simply a collection of math routines strung together. That year, Eliza, a program written by Joseph Weizenbaum started to make the rounds. While not really an A.I., it mimics one by interacting (on a limited scope) with it’s user. Many on-line Elizas can be found utilizing much of the same original code. Hope this helps.
