All patients received a triple combination of ART with Combivir being the backbone of the 1st line treatment. The third drug for patients in the NORA study was either Abacavir or Nevirapine. For patients who were not in NORA, Tenofovir or Nevirapine was the 3rd drug; any patient who had a contra-indication to Nevirapine was given Tenofovir.
