What drugs are excluded from coverage?
You should refer to the section titled “Exclusions” in your Certificate of Coverage for your individual plan to answer this question completely. The following are general exclusions and they include but are not limited to: drugs which can be purchased without a written prescription which are called Over the Counter (OTC), non-FDA approved and experimental medications, and compounded drugs as well as medications used solely for cosmetic purposes, weight loss, hair growth, and sexual dysfunction. Medications that gain FDA approval are not covered for the first six (6) months on the market.
