What draws non-Navajos to Navajo Land to work now?
There is no single reason. For some, it is a level of pay that is often higher than off the reservation. Many school teachers and administrators come here to gain experience before transferring to other districts in the state. Some, like a physician at an area hospital, wanted to work over-seas, but his wife did not. The region was as close to being in a foreign country, while still remaining in the United States as they could find. Some families enjoy the people and the country.
