What dose cross contamination consist of?
There is really only contamination. adding the word “cross” to it doesn’t add anything to the basic idea. It comes from kitchen work and indirect contamination would get the idea across better. “Cross” has the advantage of being shorter but seems to imply something more complicated. IN your example both the chicken and the sausages can contaminate eeah other but that is not what is usually meant by the phase.
