What does Wikipedia mean?
Because of the success of Wikipedia (see link in other answer) Wiki has been given a meaning it never had before they used it. Pedia comes from Encyclopedia – a gathering of knowledge. Wiki now means a site on the internet where anyone from a larger or smaller group and edit and change a document – which is true of most of what is on Wikipedia, making its content extremely untrustworthy at any given moment – Because I can go in and say George Bush was a communist in college, until someone changes it. Other Wiki setups are being used to share editing of documents or working out of plans for groups of people.
