What does VPN mean?
VPN means Virtual Private Network. A VPN links two computers through an underlying local or wide-are network, while encapsulating the data and keeping it private. It is analogous to a pipe within a pipe. Even though the outer pipe contains the inner one, the inner pipe has a wall that blocks other traffic in the outer pipe. To the rest of the network, the VPN traffic just looks like another traffic stream (source: wikipedia).
