What Does Viva Mean In English?
The word viva in the English language means the oral part of an examination. VIVA is also the name for a private German music television channel based in Cologne. It was started in the year 1993 by a shareholder unit headed by Time Warner but was initially led by Dieter Gorny to contend with MTV, which was the market leader around that time. Generally being the first ever musical channel to be aired in German, VIVA was able to secure higher ratings for the target audience. On 21st March 1995 another channel by the name VIVA Zwei was launched. The main objective of the channel was to concentrate and give importance to independently composed music. In the year 2002 its name was changed to VIVA Plus and its concept shifted to purely pop and commercial music and was targeted towards the youth.
