What does vegetables do to the body system?
All vegetables have what are called “Secondary metabolites” which are chemicals that the plants produce to kill or injure other organisms that might try to kill or eat it. Some of these, such as Limonine, Tomatine, and Cucumberine do the job quite well in large quantities. That’s why you can’t eat certain parts of vegetables such as Tomato leaves or freshly picked limes. This is also why Heroin and Cocaine are so dangerous, and why caffeine is so much fun. Evolution allowed for animals to not only digest but utilize the highly toxic compounds in their bodies. Some of these compounds are called “Flavenoids” and can help the body in numerous ways. Reservatol is one example. It is intended to kill fungi but has some benefit to people.
