What does “unfit” parent mean?

0

An unfit parent is one who causes a child emotional, mental, or physical harm. Examples would be alcoholism or drug addiction, or even just excessive use of alcohol. Smoking cigarettes could make you unfit if you smoke around your child. A parent who can’t hold down a job, moves from place to place, and has frequent or unstable romantic relationships. An unfit parent could do things like not bathing the children often enough, only feeding them junk food or not enough meals, not providing clean clothing and a clean living environment. It can be one or all of these things depending on the severity of each. And I’m sure there are many more examples to list.
