What does tri-band (aws) mean?
– Tri-band refers to a phone that is able to access three band frequencies. This type of phone is necessary to reach the coverage areas noted as “Tri-band (AWS)”. “AWS” means “Advanced Wireless Spectrum” (1710-1755 MHz and 2110-2155 MHz) and refers to the additional coverage offered by MetroPCS. To use the Extended Tri-band Coverage, you will need a Tri-band phone and be on either the $45 or $50 Rate Plans. You can also add the MetroPCS Nationwide Coverage for $5 per month if you are on the $35 and $40 rate plans.
