What does this mean for livestock farmers in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly?
All premises within the Protection Zone are encouraged to vaccinate against Bluetongue immediately due to the threat posed. The message is “Don’t hesitate, vaccinate!” All livestock farmers are encouraged to remain vigilant in looking for the signs of the disease. Even those who have already vaccinated against BTV8 need to remain vigilant as BTV1 is on the move in Europe and we need to be on our guard against it.
