What does this mean for businesses that request licences, authorities and proof of age cards from their customers?
All licensing and personal information currently on the face of the various licences, authorities and proof of age cards will remain on the face of the respective card. The cardholder’s residential address will be shown on the back of all cards (except for Adult Proof of Age Cards). The driver licence is already listed as a Category A evidence of identity document by the Australian Government Information Management Office, which defines the classic 100 Point Check. The new card will continue to have this rating. Once Queensland starts transitioning to the new cards it will take between five and six years for all driver licences and authorities to be renewed. During that time, your customers may present either a laminate card or new card and both products can be accepted (provided they are current). For improved security, the cards will be printed and distributed from a secure location to the applicant’s mailing address. The applicant should receive their card in the mail within 14 days
