What does third person limited mean?

In third person limited the narrator tells the story from outside but through the eyes of a single character. This is used rarely its close to being first person only third person grammer is used. Third person omniscient is a narrator who is like a storyteller, outside but can describe whats going on through the eyes of several people, this is more common. There is no rule that says you can’t use various forms of viewpoint in a story as long as you do it consistently. You can use a narrator for parts and have a first person perspective for other parts. You can use 1st for one character and third for the other, you can use third for both or you can use 1st for both and have them tell the story from their side of things in different chapters. Mastering viewpoint isn’t easy, but there are some good books out there that can help. Try Characters and Viewpoint by Orson Scott Card
