What does the Zoning Hearing Officer do?
The Zoning Hearing Officer (ZHO) decides issues such as area-bulk variances or sign variances. In addition, the Zoning Hearing Officer is responsible for interpreting any provision or term of the Zoning Ordinance and making any determination of the exact location of any district boundary if there is uncertainty. The City Council has a 21 day period to review the ZHO’s decision and may either reaffirm the ZHO’s decision, modify their decision, or overturn it. Meetings are held on the second (2nd) and fourth (4th) Tuesdays of the month at 5:00 p.m. at City Hall if a petition has been received for review.
