What does the Worldwide Church of God teach about baptism?
On the Day of Pentecost, Peter proclaimed: “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit” (Acts 2:38). Christians are to be baptized “in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit” (Matthew 28:19). Water baptism demonstrates a believer’s repentance of personal sin and acceptance of Jesus Christ’s atoning sacrifice. Baptism signifies a commitment to a new way of life governed by the spiritual laws of God, the example of Jesus Christ and the indwelling of the Holy Spirit.
