What does the World Health Organization (WHO) have to say about funding for end of life care?
The WHO expressed their concern over funding in the 2004 report, “The Solid Facts: Palliative Care.” The report mentions that several countries have reviewed their national research strategies for cancer research, and less than 0.5% of this funding is used on palliative research. Considering that over half of those diagnosed with cancer will eventually die from the disease, “this is a staggeringly small figure.” The report also makes several suggestions for improvement.
