What does the word herb mean?
‘Herb’ is a name for any plant that is used medicinally or as a spice, and for the useful product of such a plant. The term herb is also applied to all herbaceous plants as distinguished from woody plants. Herbs as condiments and seasonings are important in culinary art. More significantly, the use of medicinal herbs has increased dramatically as people turn to alternative and complementary medicine. According to the Journal of American Cancer Society, since 1990 the use of complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) in the United States has grown by 380%.
