What does the WIC Golden Passport Program provide?
• Special vouchers to purchase healthy food for your child • Nutrition education classes in a peer atmosphere • Special support classes that address your needs and answer your questions • Referrals to health care and other programs • Special contact at each WIC office who is trained to assist you with your questions and concerns. What if I make too much money? You are applying for WIC for the child, not yourself. Your income will not be assessed for eligibility unless the child has no support of his/her own, i.e. Foster Care, Medi-Cal, CalWorks or Food Stamps. What foods can I get with WIC? The WIC program provides special vouchers for nutritious foods that can be redeemed at any local grocery stores. Foods available include: • Formula • Cereal • Milk • Cheese • Eggs • Peanut Butter • Dried peas, beans or lentils, juices • Carrots At your First WIC Appointment: Be sure to bring the following to your first WIC appointment: • Golden Passport card • Medi-cal card for the child, if availab
