What does the Washoe County Recorder do?
The Washoe County Recorder’s Office is responsible for recording documents (official records re: real property rights; documents as required by the Uniform Commercial Code; marriage certificates; property maps; and mining documents), providing access to those documents, and collecting recordation fees and real property transfer taxes as required by the Nevada Revised Statutes. The Recorder runs the office (currently allocated for 27 full-time employees, although currently staffed with less than 24 full-time equivalents). While the job duties don’t sound very exciting, the Recorder’s Office provides a vital County service.
