What does the VP of Corporate Philanthropy role entail?
LK: My roll is to align the philanthropic investments of Monster Worldwide with the company interests. Since Monster’s mission is to connect people who need jobs with the people who have them, we look to support organizations that are focused on getting people back to work and helping them improve their lives. CG: How and when did you link up with Career Gear? LK: It was June 2008. Career Gear was one of 24 charities we had identified as part of a special program Monster sponsored at the Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM) conference. As we learned more about the organization, we began to see how aligned they were with our goals. It has grown from there. CG: Tell us about the “Keep America Working Tour.” LK: – When President Obama called on corporate America to take a leadership role in addressing the economic downturn, Monster responded by initiating the Keep America Working Tour, a free, multi-city career fair designed to link people seeking jobs with employers who are hiring
