What does the Unity Sand Ceremony signify?
Similar to the unity candle ritual, the Unity Sand Ceremony symbolizes the blending of two lives into one. The bride and groom each hold a container of sand that symbolizes their contribution to the marriage, and the unity vase represents the coming together of their individual selves. If other family members are involved in the ceremony, they may also pour their own sand into the unity vase, which is kept as a memento of the wedding day.
