What does the township trustee do?
The trustee of the civil township has certain specific duties to perform. Space will not permit a listing of all of the specific duties of the township trustee. Some of the most important and most frequently performed duties are listed herein: • Keep a written record of official proceedings (Township Form 14, General Record); • Manage all township property interest; including Parks. • Keep township records open for public inspection; • Attend all meetings of the township board; • Receive and pay out township funds; • Examine and settle all accounts and demands chargeable against the township; • Administer township assistance; • Perform the duties of fence viewer; • Provide and maintain cemeteries; • File an annual personnel report (Form 100R) with the State Board of Accounts; In many townships, the trustee provides fire protection; however, this is not the case in White River Township.
