What does the timeline for a typical fumigation look like?
Day 1: Tarps are placed on the structure, fans are placed inside to circulate the fumigant and a warning agent, Chloropicrin, is introduced as a deterrent to prevent entry into the structure. Primary and secondary locking devices are engaged to prevent entry by anyone other than the licensed fumigator. Vikane fumigant is then introduced into the structure. Day 2: Tarps are removed, doors and windows are opened and the structure is aerated. Primary and secondary locking devices are engaged to prevent entry. Day 3: A licensed fumigator will return to your home to test the concentration level of Vikane fumigant inside. Using sophisticated detection equipment, the licensed fumigator will ensure that the fumigant has dissipated and will clear your home safe for re-entry. The fumigator will then place a Re-entry Notice on the structure indicating the day and time that re-entry is safe.
