WHAT DOES THE TERM NOT SUITABLE AS A COMPLETE MILK FOOD FOR CHILDREN UNDER 2 YEARS MEAN?

Up until the age of 2 years, full fat milk or soy products are recommended as the main milk drink (in drinks, on cereal etc) as opposed to reduced fat products. This is because young children require the extra energy of full fat products for growth. After the age of 2, reduced fat milk or soy products are suitable. Because Up & Go is similar to a bowl of Weet-Bix with low /reduced fat milk, we recommend that it is suitable for children over the age of 2 as an alternative to cereal with full fat milk or soymilk. However, Up & Go can be given to children over 12 months as an alternative to sweetened drinks.
