What does the temperament evaluation process consist of?

0

During the temperament evaluation, we will slowly introduce the new dog to the other dogs in daycare. This is done in our neutral room so the new dog is comfortable and not overwhelmed. We are very selective about which dogs we use as greeters they are often staff dogs or dogs that attend daycare frequently and do well amidst a variety of personalities. After the initial introduction, the new dog will be brought into the playroom that is most suited for his or her size and temperament. As the dog becomes accustomed to the new surroundings, our staff keeps a watchful eye for any fear or aggressive behaviours. Posturing is to be expected. A new dog may emit a nervous growl to let the other dogs know that he needs some space. Overt aggression and lunging at other dogs, however, is not tolerated.
