What does the Sun-Earth Connection mean to an Art Historian?
Another perspective important to understanding the historical importance of the Sun in cultures is from an art historian’s perspective. Art historians study the content, creation, and importance of artifacts from history. They identify techniques and materials and are able to date objects to gain a better understanding of past cultures. Through the activities in this section, students will examine the importance of the Sun in art and the difference between light color and paint color. Students will also examine the importance of invisible light for art historians in their examination of artifacts. This section also looks at the various importance of the Sun in various cultures as well as the artistic importance of artifacts.
