What does the statue of liberty represent and to whom?
It was raised in 1890 by György Zala in the memory of the heroes of the Hungarian revolutionary army. The Statue represents a woman escaping the chains of tyranny. She holds a torch, which represents liberty. The Statue’s full name is Liberty Enlightening the World. But in a broader way it symbolises freedom in through out the world. in the old days people would come to the us because they were told that they had gold pavements so when the immigrants got into us the y saw the statue which showed freedom and breaking away from the poorer conditions they lived in. some people say it wz a gift from the people of France.
