What does the SLPI Michigan data show?
Generally, adult scores fluctuate less than one level when retested within one year. Adults receiving Advanced Plus and above typically do not show a drop in their SLPI levels on re-test. Individuals with Advanced level and below ratings are more likely to drop one or even more than one level because their sign language communication skills are not as strong and broad as those in the higher levels. Adults need to continue to develop and use ASL skills to maintain or advance levels.
