What does the SIN List 1.0 mean for industry?
This event was well attended by industry representatives and downstream users. Several companies were invited to present their efforts to substitute dangerous chemicals in their products. Speakers included representatives of Dell Inc., Sara Lee International , the Swedish construction agency Skaska, Fred Butler, H&M and Sony Ericsson . The presentations from all speakers can be accessed here. The efforts of other companies were also highlighted in the conference publication Substitution 1.0 – the art of delivering toxic-free products. Progressive companies can use the SIN List 1.0 to take steps to safeguard consumer health by: substituting potentially dangerous chemicals in their products in favor of greater consumer protection and satisfaction, respecting the precautionary principle and maintaining accountability in the supply chain and acting proactively to protect the workforce and customers from exposure to hazardous materials.
