What does the screening process entail?
For preschool applicants, we schedule a supervised playdate in the preschool classroom. The preschool faculty members observe the child interacting with the teacher and other students in the classroom, as well as the classroom materials. All Kindergarten applicants are screened through a one-on-one guided interview with a teacher or admissions staff member. These screenings last approximately 20-30 minutes. Children do not have to be able to read or write to participate successfully. Students entering 1st through 12th grades take a standardized test. Testing times for grades 2 through 5 average 1 to 2 hours; grades 6 through 8 average 3 hours; and grades 9 through 12 average 3.5 hours and includes a timed writing sample. All applicants must participate in the screening process.
