What does the RO look for in the selection of a polling station?
A polling station will need to be open to the public during the duration of the voting process. It requires safe, secure access to the public and must comply with other legislation governing ease of access and working conditions for employees. It may also require safe storage facilities for the election paraphernalia for a day or so before and after the election. It does not necessarily have to be the whole school, but must meet certain criteria. A separate mobile might meet the criteria, but access could be a problem if there is only stepped access to it. Delivery arrangements for that equipment will be at the discretion of the RO and local authority as they decide on the administrative processes involved in transport and storage of the election equipment.
