The ribbon that Cloud wears around his arm is the Ribbon from Aeries (or at least to symbolize Aeries ribon). She was a character in FF7 that died, and is the one in clouds vision where it shows the girl with brown hair in a pink dress). Her death is what caused cloud to question fighting so much, he felt that he couldnt protect his friends and felt pretty much useless.
