What does the red stripe on the polish flag mean?
In schools, children are taught that the red part stands for the blood lost by all those who fought for Poland. The truth is, the flag colours come from heraldry. During the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, white and red were adapted as the common banner colours since coats of arms of both these countries had white charges on a red field.
