Bentley will use the Frankfurt Motor Show to introduce a limited edition Series 51 Continental package for the GT and GTC. Designed to be vibrant and exclusive, the package mainly consists of a bespoke three-tone interior. While customers can order any color they want, the GTC debuting in Frankfurt features Imperial Blue primary and secondary hides, Linen seat and door inserts, as well as Newmarket Tan accents on the seats and carpet. Other design touches include a matching truck mat, diamond quilted seats and door pads, and a limited-edition Amboyna veneer. For the exterior, the company added 20″ 14-spoke ‘Diamond’ polished wheels and a discrete ‘51′ badge on the front quarter panels. The R Type is the second series of post-war Bentley automobiles, replacing the Mark VI. Essentially a larger-boot version of the Mk VI, the R type is regarded by some as a stop-gap before the introduction of the S series cars in 1955. As with its predecessor, a standard body was available as well coachbuilt versions by firms including H.J.Mulliner, Park Ward, Harold Radford, Freestone and Webb and others. Even by this date, there was little difference (other than the radiator grilles and the carburation) between the standard Bentley R Type and the Rolls Royce Silver Dawn, though Bentley was still the more popular marque.
