What does the “PT” in the Chrysler PT Cruiser stand for?
When Chrysler came out with the PT Cruiser, it was marketed as a sporty family car. It target marketed those consumers who wanted something more sporty than the standard sedan or minivan. PT is the abbreviation for Part Time, e.g. Part Time Cruiser. Thus even though it was a full time family car, it doubled as a PT sports car. At least this is what I learned during my tenure with a Dodge dealership.
