This will considerably reduce red tape for DAs including for major new development in Bomen, and the new residential areas. Bio-certification means DECC is satisfied with conservation outcomes in the nominated parts of the LGA and that bio-certification will “turn off” the Threatened Species Conservation Act requirements for certain land, leading to greater development certainty for landowners and quicker DA assessment times. A number of landowners have acted commendably in indicating a willingness for large portions of their lands which have high ecological values to be dedicated to the public as conservation areas as a component of any rezoning.
