What does the proposed ballot initiative attempt to do?
Our initiative would establish a nonpartisan, independent, citizen’s ethics commission to hear complaints of unethical legislative behavior, hold hearings when the complaints have merit, and make recommendations to the legislature for appropriate action. Hearings and recommendations would be public. Our initiative would also establish a substantive and strict code of ethics that would serve as the standards by which the Commission and Legislature would judge alleged unethical behavior of legislators. 3.
