What does the Power and Winter buttons do?
Power button does. He checked with Isuzu engineers (so he told me): It does not increase power. It does not change timing. It does not affect the engine in any way. It does remap the auto transmission shift-up and shift-down points (but that doesn’t count as changing “gearing” — all the ratios remain the same, you’ll just see shift points move to different rpms). On the Power Drive, it delays upshifts and downshifts, essentially holds gears longer before shifting. It also increases the line pressure in the transmission. Increasing line pressure provides greater clamping ability of the clutch packs and converter clutch when applied. This mode is for towing or hauling. Constantly shifting under load and towing/hauling generates more heat as the friction materials slip as they engage under load.
