What does the Pharmaceutical care for Patients with Diabetes Self-Management Certificate Program entail?
The goals of the program are to provide comprehensive instruction in the pathophysiology of diabetes, teach current approaches to the medical management for patients who have diabetes, and introduce pharmacists to their role as diabetes educators. The Program is conducted in two parts: a self-study learning component and a live training seminar. The live training seminar is a full 10 hour day of both lecture and hands on training with specially trained pharmacists in the area of self-management of diabetes. Are continuing education credits awarded for participating in the program? Yes. Successful completion of the live seminar component involves passing the final exam with a grade of 70% or higher and demonstrating competency in self-injection techniques, diabetic foot exam, and blood glucose meters.
