What does the “Optional” box in the COMSEC Operations Program of Study diagram mean?
The “Optional” box refers to the currently-offered COMSEC Equipment courses. Personnel selected for COMSEC custodian duties should seriously consider attending the courses that describe the handling and operation of the equipment being used in their departments. Other users and loan holders would benefit from these courses as well. The equipment courses certainly complement the Program of Study but are not required to receive the diploma.
