What does the Office of the Supervising Scientist do?
OSS supervises the environmental aspects of uranium mining in the Alligator Rivers Region through the assessment of the environmental performance of uranium mines in the region and through involvement in the regulatory processes of the Northern Territory Government. OSS also provides policy and technical advice to the Minister for the Environment, Water, Heritage and the Arts.
